GENERAL SUMMARY

The Digital Learning Design and Support Director for University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences (USAHS) is a faculty partner and champion for creating excellence in the digital learning experience for students. The Director provides leadership, coordination, and project management for instructional design projects and leads a highly collaborative team of instructional and media designers. S/he works in a fast-paced, multi-campus, complex, deadline-driven environment on critical-path initiatives that promote an active, immersive, and media-rich digital learning experience for students.

In addition to the management and execution of instructional design initiatives, the Director also provides support for faculty to integrate innovative technologies that augment the student digital experience across the curriculum. This aspect of the role involves engaging faculty in the exploration, discussion, and assessment of educational technologies to support digital learning, as well as implementation and curricular integration.

Position may be based at any of the following campuses: San Marcos, CA; Austin, TX; Dallas, TX; Miami, FL; and St. Augustine, FL.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·This position provides direction and communication across cross-functional teams of Sr.
Instructional Designers, Digital Media Designers, technical specialists,
contractors, and vendors. Importantly, this position leads the timely execution
of the multiple tasks that comprise complex, detailed project plans, and thus
will implement systems, processes, and protocols for project tracking and
status-reporting.

·Performs all aspects of operational project management for online course development projects, including tracking, scheduling, setting timelines, and ensuring execution of
process steps.

·Uses quantitative and qualitative data, evaluate the effectiveness of the digital content development
process and develop plans for continuous improvement.

·Assures that all courses produced and launched meet university quality standards and regulatory requirements, including accessibility, media, editorial, and copyright
standards. Implement and oversee a QA process that ensures quality metrics are
adhered to in digital learning.

·Work collaboratively with faculty throughout the university to provide pedagogical and technical consulting and training to design, develop, and implement instructional content, courses and projects that enrich teaching and learning through the use of technology in digital learning experiences.

·Work with faculty in a transformational leadership capacity to foster interest, identification, and piloting of new technologies for supporting digital teaching and learning.

·Establish an infrastructure, communication plan, and system to ensure that faculty at each
campus have access to instructional support for existing and new technologies.

·Coordinate the development of curricular integration of state-of- the-art instructional technologies.

·Partner with Faculty Development staff to identify training and development needs to support technology innovation.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of 7 years (8 or more years strongly preferred) of online course design experience, curriculum development, or related experience within a higher education environment.
  • A minimum of 5 years managing teams, preferably in a deadline-driven, complex project environment.
  • Direct experience coordinating and reporting on complex instructional design and development projects.
  • A Master's Degree in field of expertise is required. 

TRAVEL

  • May require periodic travel to other office locations.
