The mission of the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences is the development of professional health care practitioners through innovation, individualized, and quality classroom, clinical, and distance education.



The subject matter expert (SME) is a person with specialized knowledge in a specific area who provides that knowledge to others. The subject matter expert will provide content and expertise on high-impact initiatives. SME’s research source material, assist in writing course content, design learning activities, and coordinate with Content Developers and instructional design staff to facilitate the production of instructional content for blended courses in the DPT program. The specific content area expertise includes specialization in one of the following topics:

  1. Physical therapy examination and assessment: includes courses topics basic patient care and assessment, fundamental physical therapist management skills 
  2. Medical Screening includes course topics in medical screening, differential diagnosis, pathology and pharmacology, and imaging.
  3. Fundamentals of Physical Therapy includes course topics in history taking, tests & measures, the Guide to PT practice, International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF), and basic examination in a variety of clinical settings. 
  4. Clinical Lab Courses: Course content related to neuromuscular, musculoskeletal and cardiovascular and pulmonary physical therapy skills.

This position may be performed remotely, however, periodic compensated travel to university campus locations is required for media production in a studio and meetings as scheduled.

  • Assist with developing distance-based and hybrid physical therapist educational content

POSITION IN ORGANIZATION

Reports to:Sr. Director, Digital Learning & Design

TECHNICAL, MANAGERIAL & PEOPLE SKILLS REQUIRED

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Incumbents will be evaluated, in part, based on performance of each essential function.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • A Physical Therapy (MPT or DPT) degree from an accredited institution.  
  • At least 2-3 years of clinical experience.  
  • Expertise in one of the subject matter areas as listed above.
  • Experience with online and/or blended learning. 
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills. 
  • Instructional design or curriculum development experience preferred but will train.  
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. 
  • Advanced certifications in designated content area preferred.  
  • Highly responsive and organized to collaborate effectively and meet deadlines.  
  • Comfortable filming content in a professional studio with media team support.

LICENSURE and/or CERTIFICATION

  • Licensed Physical Therapist

TRAVEL

May require periodic travel to USASH campus locations for filming content, up to 30%.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment but may involve exposure to moderate noise levels. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for six to eight hours daily and includes physical demands associated with a traditional office setting, e.g., walking, standing, communicating, and other physical functions as necessary.



Hiring Range $46 - $46
Compensation is a reasonable estimate and will be determined using the hiring range listed above and factors including, but not limited to, skillset, level of experience, education, and physical work location, to the extent consistent with applicable law.
