The mission of the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences is the development of professional health care practitioners through innovation, individualized, and quality classroom, clinical, and distance education.



GENERAL SUMMARY

The Supplemental Instruction (SI) Coordinator will work with University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences Tutoring Services personnel, SI Leaders, laboratory assistants, and faculty with the primary purpose of supporting supplemental course-content instruction based on the International Center for Supplemental Instruction (ICSI) model. The Supplemental Instruction Coordinator will serve as the primary personnel in the development of SI courses and materials to be maintained by the university.

The is a part-time, hourly position which requires a minimum of 20-29 hours per week. Hours may vary depending on institutional needs and will not exceed 29 hours per week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinate Supplemental Instruction for courses across the institution, as assigned by the Director.
  • Provide training and supervision to graduate student SI leaders
  • Serve as SI Leader when needed.
  • Coordinate identification of courses for SI, including data analysis, stakeholder survey, and formal presentations.
  • Responsible for retention and fallback reporting in support of key performance indicators
  • Assist the Director with tracking Supplemental Instruction program outcomes and improvements as necessary.
  • Supports the student experience through collaboration with other support services including advising, tutoring services, writing center, student wellness and accommodation services.
  • Maintain SI supervisor training and certification, provide training and supervision of SI Leaders, maintain institution-specific training, and other activities as deemed necessary to remain consistent with standards of practice.
  • Meet with the Director in an ongoing and regular capacity to ensure program functionality and maintenance of best practices in the field.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date information on the services provided to students.
  • Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with faculty and other stakeholders to promote Supplemental Instruction to enrolled students.
  • Assist in supporting university programmatic and departmental initiatives as assigned.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop strong relationships internally with students, staff, and faculty to promote program services. 
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities that management deems necessary.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s degree required, PhD or equivalent preferred.
  • Two or more years of applicable experience in a college, university, or teaching and learning center.
  • A strong record of relationship-building with the ability to collaborate with and communicate complex ideas and information to internal and external partners.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office, Excel, and Outlook required).
  • Ability to achieve success individually and as part of a team in a dynamic work environment.
  • Mature, positive and collaborative interpersonal skills.
  • Persistence combined with a positive attitude and approach to work and others – self-motivating work style.
  • Knowledge of health sciences concepts, topics and instruction is required. Knowledge of physical therapy is preferred.
  • Technical ability to operate remote applications, lead online meetings, develop support resources, and utilize necessary software.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and organization skills. 
  • Ability to prioritize work, multi-task, set and meet deadlines.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment but may involve exposure to moderate noise levels. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for six to eight hours daily and includes physical demands associated with a traditional office setting, e.g., walking, standing, communicating, and other physical functions as necessary.



Hiring Range $26.73 - $34.78
Compensation is a reasonable estimate and will be determined using the hiring range listed above and factors including, but not limited to, skillset, level of experience, education, and physical work location, to the extent consistent with applicable law.
