GENERAL SUMMARY

The University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences (USAHS) is seeking a dynamic, customer service–oriented Library Intern to join our university community. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-growing academic environment. As a Library Intern, you will work closely with the USAHS Library Services team at the assigned campus and will support a variety of special projects and assignments aligned with departmental objectives. Responsibilities include providing student support, delivering exceptional customer service, monitoring circulation activities, and assisting with daily library operations. This internship is ideal for individuals looking to develop practical skills in academic librarianship and student services. USAHS is a rapidly expanding institution that offers real-world experience designed to prepare you for a successful career after graduation.

Note: this position is a full-time temporary assignment for the summer term, estimated to end August 2025, and may require weekend hours.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Working with substantial independence, the intern will support a broad range of Library assignments to include: 
• Assist students and faculty with checking in / checking out / renewing library materials.
• Provide customer service support to library patrons, including answering basic questions and locating items.
• Help coordinate individual exam proctoring in the library according to the Library Proctoring Policy.
• Help troubleshoot problems with library technology such as printers, copiers, computers, etc.
• Collaborate with part-time student library workers to meet daily coverage and operational needs.
• Orient new students to library services and collections. 
• Serve as a point of communication between the Library services team and the University, students and faculty. 
• Uphold official library policies and procedures.
• Help maintain borrower records in library information management system.
• Help record and process incoming serials or other items as needed.
• Support the coordination of loans with other campus libraries within the University.
• Meet regularly with other library staff. 
• Support and assist the Librarian and/or Director, Library Services.
• Contribute to university-wide library projects, as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Associate’s degree preferred,  
• One or more years of experience in a library and/or academic setting, preferred
• Pursuit of a career or degree in education, higher education, library sciences, or similar preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed primarily in a standard office environment but may involve exposure to moderate noise levels. Work involves operation of personal computer equipment for six to eight hours daily and includes physical demands associated with a traditional office setting, e.g., walking, standing, communicating, and other physical functions as necessary. 



Hiring Range $13.37 - $17.47
Compensation is a reasonable estimate and will be determined using the hiring range listed above and factors including, but not limited to, skillset, level of experience, education, and physical work location, to the extent consistent with applicable law.
